Tom Jakobek has 25 years of experience in financial management in the public and private sectors. He specializes in construction management, and has demonstrated success in handling commercial development, building conversions, major restorations, and retrofitting of public facilities, including hospitals.
Prior to leading KBNJ Consulting, Inc., Tom was the general manager and director of his own property development and management firm, Romlek Enterprises, Inc. At Romlek, Tom successfully redeveloped commercial and residential properties in the Toronto area.
As Budget Chair and City Councillor for Toronto, Tom proved his skill with handling large and complex projects. He managed the city’s $6 billion budget for nearly 10 years, delivering nine consecutive budgets without raising taxes.
He also worked as vice president of business and facility development at the Toronto East General Hospital, where he managed $64 million in capital projects. He also kept costs down, implementing rigorous financial planning that brought the hospital’s projects back within budget.

Tom holds a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Public Administration and a Master’s Degree in Health Science, both from the University of Toronto. He also holds a CPA and completed a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration.
Tom has held many board positions. He served on the Greater Toronto Services Board, the Toronto Harbour Commission and the Metro Toronto Housing Authority. He also acted as the director of the Cerebral Palsy Association for 11 years until 2006, and served as the Director of Providence Villa.
